FYNBOSSIE

FYNBOSSIE

Fynbos belongs to the Cape Floral Kingdom, and is one of the richest areas in the world for plant biodiversity. The name originates from an Old Dutch word : ‘fine-leaved plants’ and is the source of inspiration for my latest collection. In South Africa, we are so spoilt with our incredible array of plant species, most being endemic, and I wanted to showcase the intricate beauty found in our natural environment. Often overlooked from afar, yet on closer inspection, you will begin to really observe and appreciate the delicate splendour in the smallest flowers. It was recognised as early as 1913, when Kirstenbosch Gardens was founded to preserve the country’s unique flora - being the first botanical garden in the world with this ethos. With more than 8,500 fynbos species, and 20% critically endangered, I hope to bring awareness of the importance of protecting this precious gift. I am constantly inspired by nature and loved the process of designing this new print - using many of my own personal photographs taken on various hikes around the Cape. I am so excited to share this magic with you.
